Jon Arkin Online Workshop: Metric Modulation

Metric modulation is the process of shifting from (or implying a shift from) one tempo or meter to another through the use of various subdivisions and polyrhythms. It has become a fairly standard technique in contemporary jazz performance and composition over the past few decades. This workshop serves as an introduction to various practical applications of the technique of metric modulation and polyrhythms in jazz and other contemporary music styles. Recommended for all musicians interested in deepening their rhythmic understanding.
