Jon Arkin Online Workshop: (Re)Learning How To Practice
July 26, 2020 @ 11:00 am
$30 – $45The vast majority of music students of every level of experience a sense of frustration with their progress—whether feeling their improvement plateau, or feeling overwhelmed by the amount of work needed to advance, or feeling guilty for not having more time/motivation to devote to practice. While some students find ways to channel this frustration to fuel their work ethic, many others will lapse in their practice or quit entirely.
This workshop, open to all instruments & levels, will explore ways of reinforcing a healthy, effective mindset in one’s practice. In learning to recognize the most common emotional traps (complacency on one side, and futility on the other), and understanding the importance of seeing the larger picture of your current level and the direction you’re headed, you can find the equilibrium which provides the freedom to work & play at music without the distractions of ego and ambition.

Please note: This workshop will be conducted live via video conferencing. A computer or other device with a webcam and microphone and a reliable internet connection is required. Log-in information will be sent to students in advance of the workshop.
